South American Cichlids
Most of the Cichlids of South America come from somewhere in the Amazon River basin. As such, they tend to prefer softer and more acidic water than their Central American and African cousins. Many South American Cichlids have a reputation for delicacy that is not always accurate. Among them are two of the more decorative cichlids in this group, the discus and the angel.
