African Catfish
In the fish keeping hobby, the most famous genus of African catfish is Synodontis. Both of my African catfish are of this genus, though they are from very different habitats. The trait this genus may be best known for is their ability to audibly squeak with spines in their pectoral fins. Though the idea certainly piques the curiosity, as a fish keeper one hopes never to hear this noise, as it is generally evidence of great distress.
Some Synodontis species are also known for their tendency to swim upside down, earning them the name "Upside-Down Catfish".
